The
traditional Big Band concert is a gift
to the devoted audiences
who
have shown their delight in hearing
Mt. Washington Valley’s own outdoor version of the music that
swept across America
beginning in the 1930's and '40s!
Big Band enthusiasts will be able to relax in their own lawn chair
or on their picnic blanket and take it all in
surrounded by the ski slopes of Cranmore
and the tranquility of an evening under the stars.

. . . from our Press Coverage file:
July
29th ~ Big Band Swing and Jazz by the Compaq Big Band
The internationally acclaimed Compaq Big Band, directed by Al
Saloky, is an authentic 20-piece big band that has kept New England
swingin' since 1975. Their jazz repertoire begins with honoring
the classics from the ‘30s and ‘40s, and then roars
ahead with exciting arrangements from more modern big bands of
icons like Count Basie, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson,
Gordon Goodwin, and more. This dynamic group of professionals
showcases the power of 15 horns, a cookin' rhythm section, a great
feature vocalist, and terrific instrumental soloists, keeping
up a busy year round schedule of gigs for diverse audiences and
venues across the New England. The July 29th performance will
feature a mix of high energy instrumental charts complemented
with terrific vocals by Ed Scheer of Boston’s famous band
“The Love Dogs” – songs you’ll recognize
from the books of Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Frankie Randall,
Louie Jordan, and others. Once again, Arts Jubilee is pleased
to present this great group of talented musicians with an all-new
show presenting a range of big band jazz to satisfy every taste.
This concert is sure to be energetic from start to finish - and
Thursday, July 29th will be the "swingin' place to be"
at Arts Jubilee!
