About Maine State Ballet:

Maine State Ballet was initially known as Dance Theater of Southern Maine.
The name Maine State Ballet was adopted in 1992
to better reflect the company's mission:
to offer quality ballet productions to Maine audiences,
and to provide world-class training and performance opportunities
that allow talented Maine artists to remain in the state.

In addition to the holiday classic Nutcracker,
Maine State Ballet's repertory also includes full-length ballets,
A Midsummer Nights Dream, Cinderella, Coppelia, Hansel & Gretel,
Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, and Alice in Wonderland.
Maine State Ballet's one-act productions include
Can-Can Parisienne, Peter and the Wolf, Britten, Serenade and Western Roundup.

The company's dancers are joined in performances
by dancers from Maine State Ballet school, official school of Maine State Ballet.
Working together we encourage students to become active, intelligent young artists
who will emerge as artistic leaders in their communities.
